LCD driver terminal EPT 4.08C

EPT 4.08C or former EPT 4.08B is an 8″ colour TFT LCD monitor (IPS technology) for industrial use with touch control suitable for public transport vehicles with "single cable" connection via HDMI connector identical to previous types (EPT 4.07 and EPT 4.08).

The terminal has the following modifications compared to the EPT 4.08 type:

• capacitive touch surface with hardness H=7 replaces the resistive touch surface (higher durability and resistance to damage from improper handling) with the possibility of simultaneous sensing of up to 5 touches.
• It is supplemented with a contactless smart card reader according to the usual RFID standards. This enables the operator to always log in with a contactless smart card (HID or Desfire) with unambiguous identification. This prevents unwanted access to the service settings of the on-board computers.
• One position is added for the SAM module in case access to encrypted cards is required.
• The backlighting of the auxiliary keypad is implemented by means of coloured LEDs (reduces power consumption).
• structural and electrical modifications - e.g. the terminal cover is made of plastic, the terminal is equipped with a more powerful processor, the support frame is made of aluminium, etc.

Basic features of the touch LCD terminal EPT 4.08B or EPT 4.08C

• 8" LCD panel with touch screen and LCD with extended life of 70,000 hours according to the display manufacturer's data sheet
• 6 auxiliary backlit mechanical keys on the side of the display (two types of keypads now available)
• Control via RS 485 interface
• One +12V power supply from the on-board computer
• Only one HDMI connection cable for video, control and power wires.

LCD backlight and membrane keypad are controlled from the on-board computer or can be set automatically based on ambient light. There are several function buttons on the panel: alarm, service, schedule, sound, cancellation and OK (can be customised to customer requirements).

The auxiliary keypad has two special buttons activated by "double-click":

• HW reset - this reset triggers the same response as the "PC reset" and is independent of the EPT and EPC (system controller) communication protocol,
• HW reset of the LCD terminal only,
• Sending the screen from the LCD terminal directly to the control room
• Verification of the correctness of the touch screen (only suitable for EPT 4.07).

In the lower right part of the panel there are two indicator LEDs for power and data communication status. The panel has an internal temperature sensor and allows remote firmware override using the on-board computer.

Types manufactured according to internal electronics design:

• EPT 4.08C0 - without BCC reader
• EPT 4.08C1 - with MIFARE or DESFIRE reader
• EPT 4.08C2 - with HID card reader

The EPT 4.08B or EPT 4.08Cx terminal is interchangeable with other terminals (EPT 4.07 and EPT 4.08) and uses an extended communication protocol with EPC units. The extension concerns in particular the work with contactless chip card.
