On-board unit (OBU) is a communication unit whose task is to ensure vehicle communication with surrounding vehicles and with elements of the traffic infrastructure. To do this, it uses V2X (Vehicle to everything, also known as C2X) communication. It is a decentralised communication in the 5.9 GHz band, in which the European standard ITS-G5 is used. The vehicle communicating in this way then becomes part of the Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems, known as C-ITS.


The aim of the communication is in particular to improve traffic safety by providing early warning to drivers and at the same time to increase the efficiency of traffic, for example by giving priority at intersections.


Our company offers OBUs especially for special vehicles, i.e. for:

  • Public transport vehicles
  • Emergency vehicles for the Integrated Rescue System
  • Vehicles of road managers

For each application, the unit is equipped with special software so that it can reliably perform the given tasks.
