Ethernet switch ECU-08P0

The ECU 8P0 intelligent eight-port communication units are based on the ECU-08L and include a control processor for managing the PoE power outputs. This enables new features that further enhance its characteristics, especially with regard to power management of connected devices on Ethernet with simultaneous monitoring of their status.

The ECU-8P0 intelligent eight-port communication units are based on the ECU-08L and include a control processor for managing the PoE power outputs. This enables new features that further enhance its characteristics, especially with regard to power management of connected devices on Ethernet with simultaneous monitoring of their status.

Types produced:

  • ECU-08P0.6P - contains controlled 6x passive PoE - type B and has single-bit input and output.
  • ECU-08P1.2P - contains managed 2x passive PoE and has a standard IBIS bus instead of a single-bit input and output. The switch thus acts like an on-board computer with all commands and responses "communicating" with the parent system, i.e. in our case the EPIS 4.0x on-board computer.
  • ECU-08P3.1F5P - contains 1x managed PoE with negotiation according to IEEE 802.3 af standard and 5x passive PoE type B. The power outputs are monitored and switched on/off by the processor.

Basic design features of Ethernet communication units (switches):

  • Increased input immunity against external interference.
  • Increased immunity to power supply interference pulses
  • 24V/6A input current for PoE outputs
  • Ethernet ports - up to 7x PoE (24V/1A) with remote indication of its status, while the P3 version can have 1x PoE output according to IEEE 802.3af
  • Each PoE port has an electronic overcurrent fuse at the output,
  • Ethernet port - 1x TPoE (for remote switching from on-board computer) - only for P0 version
  • 1x PoE with +12V/24V/1A option - suitable for WiFi - only for P0 version
  • Special communication protocol to the on-board computer with the possibility of remote switching on and off of individual PoE branches including monitoring of possible overload
  • The number of active PoE ports is a configurable vehicle component item and enters the system automatically with the vehicle configuration
  • Switch status indication via LEDs
  • Control by a powerful processor with timer and battery backup for on-demand wake-up of vehicle systems
  • 1x single-bit input, 1x single-bit output (P0 version) or IBIS bus output (P1 version)
  • HW configuration possible via DIP switches

The switch is designed in such a way that it is possible to build in an expansion module for GPS on request (the unit can thus serve as a GPS server in the vehicle) and for communication via GSM/GPRS/UMTS/LTE or short-range communication.
