Features of the unit
Human Machine Interface (HMI)
C-ITS messages are sent to increase driver awareness. The VST 070 is a convenient way to present information from C-ITS messages to the driver of a public transport vehicle. The driver is thus alerted in a timely manner and in a form that can be quickly understood. The VST 070 is easy to install in the vehicle and has a touch screen control.
C-ITS message display
The application displays driver information from the following messages: DENM, IVI and MAP+SPAT. All C-ROADS use cases are supported and presented in a suitable form - with the corresponding traffic sign and additional text explaining the event. In addition, the direction and distance to the event is displayed.
Display of the signal plan
In addition to the warning and regulatory traffic signs, the signal plan of the traffic light controller can also be shown on the display. This is done for both road vehicles and trams. Thanks to the presented signal plan and the countdown of the signal phases, the driver can adjust the speed of the vehicle to pass through the green light without stopping.
Public transport route
When installed separately (without connection to the on-board computer), the display shows a list of stops including departure time. The driver can also set the line and service number for the route. The selection is facilitated by a selection from the timetable.
Public transport priority status
A typical installation of an OBU unit in a public transport vehicle is to provide public transport priority at intersections. The display therefore shows active preference requests with their status. In addition, the display indicates to the driver when to leave the transport stop by changing the background colour of the current stop.
Connection to the OBU
VST 070 is a stand-alone display (with its own processor). The display connects to the OBU via Ethernet. The power supply of the display is controlled by the OBU unit via PoE. Therefore, when the OBU is switched off, the display is also switched off. In contrast to the use of a tablet, the VST 070 is suitable for permanent installation.
