Modem EPG 4.1x

The EPG 4.1x modems are intended mainly as an expansion module for EPIS 4.0x on-board computers in public transport vehicles or on-board LCDs for passengers or internal stop LEDs or LCDs, where they provide an independent communication channel suitable for transmitting check-in data, advertising (remote controlled information system) or data for internal LCDs. It is available in several versions from a simple modem to a stand-alone communication unit including voice services.

The EPG 4.1x modems (which replaced the EPG 4.0 version thanks to more modern GSM modems) are intended mainly as an expansion module for EPIS 4.0x on-board computers in public transport vehicles or on-board LCDs for passengers or internal stop LEDs or LCDs, where they provide an independent communication channel suitable for transmitting check-in data, advertising (remote controlled information system) or data for internal LCDs. It is available in several versions from a simple modem to a stand-alone communication unit including voice services. It can also be supplied with integrated GNSS receivers (GPS and Glonass).

It is connected to the parent system via at least USB version 2 interface with external reset capability (e.g. from the on-board computer). USB drivers for EPG 4.1x modems are available for the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Win7/Win8/Win10/Win CE
  • Linux
  • Android

Basic features of the EPG 4.1 modem:

  • Power supply from the vehicles +24V on-board network - subject to an optimized power management system (can be switched on/off via one +24V output), e.g. via the EPC 4.0x on-board computer EPIS 4.0x,
  • communication via USB bus version 2, e.g. with the EPIS 4.0b on-board computer, e.g. with the VCS 185 in-vehicle LCD panel,
  • a version with voice and data transmission can also be supplied, where a call between driver and dispatcher can be arranged using GSM voice communication services. The connection between the on-board computer and the in-vehicle EPG modem shall then include both interfaces - digital via USB and analogue via analogue PP inputs,
  • the ability to work in the public Internet and in a virtual data network accessible via an access point network (APN),
  • the possibility of connecting independent inputs for communication or sensing of the vehicle status,
  • USB hub - possibility of expansion to other auxiliary USB,
  • possibility to control the modem operation during GSM signal outages,
  • possibility of remote reset or power off.

The following types of EPG 4.1x can be ordered. Extension features described above including possible voice services can be made on request
