Ethernet switch ECU-08P3

The ECU-8P3.1F5P is an Ethernet communication unit that allows to switch up to 5x passive PoE output type B (+24V) and 1x PoE output according to IEEE 802.3af (+48V with negotiation), including intelligent control from a higher-level unit (on-board computer). The PoE output with negotiation is mainly for powering the front security camera in the vehicle.

Power supply performance parameters for ports with PoE type B 24V/0.7A. The ability to power individual ports eliminates the need to run additional power wires to the connected peripherals, but everything is run in a single UTP cable (data + power). The ECU-08P3 is designed to be used in vehicles and its supply voltage is 16.8 - 32 V DC

Functions of the ECU-08P3.1F5P

  1. Unmanaged switch - 8 ports with high data throughput (see general parameters).
  2. 5 × Power management function passive PoE +24 V /0.7 A type B to outputs with electronic fuses (supplies e.g. course indicators on Ethernet bus VLP 08x35, passenger counting units UCP 02).
  3. 1 × PoE power supply according to IEEE 802.3af - class 2 (7 W) with output power negotiation (especially for the front camera with illumination capability).
  4. Switch as integrated power supply unit IJN - the on-board computer uses commands to switch on those power supplies that are specified in the vehicle configuration.
  5. Auxiliary output and input can be switched on at the front connector.
  6. Function indication:
    1. yellow lower LED flashes when CPU is working
    2. yellow middle LED flashes when communicating withthe parent system
    3. red - indicates a communication error

Example rules for installing UTP cables in the ECU-08P3 switch.1F5P for each port are:

  1. ETH1 - IEEE 802.3af port with output voltage negotiation. It is shown in red and provides up to 48V to power the connected front-facing security camera. Negotiation is done here so that the units cannot be damaged if the supply cables are swapped, i.e. if the correct voltage is not "negotiated", it is not connected to the output.
  2. ETH2 - designed for the right hand VLP 0835xEP rate indicator. It has a PoE type B output
  3. ETH3 - designed for the left VLP 0835xEP rate indicator. It has PoE output type B
  4. ETH4 - reserve - suitable for UCP 02 passenger counting units (door 1)
  5. ETH5 - reserve - suitable for UCP 02 passenger counting units (door 2)
  6. ETH6 - e.g. tachograph connection. PoE must not be set to be switched on within EPCOMP!!!
  7. ETH7 - outgoing line for vehicle backbone - vehicle LCD or EOC (PoE not present)
  8. ETH8 - incoming line ETH2, e.g. from EPC unit 4.0Cx (on-board computer)
